Eden Gabrielle Fromberg, D.O.
Eden Gabrielle Fromberg, DO, is an osteopathic physician, Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology (1999) and Board Certified in Holistic Medicine (2003). Dr. Fromberg has an extensive and diverse background in yoga and women’s healing arts, and is a highly regarded consultant in natural childbirth and holistic women’s health & fertility. Born by natural childbirth in Brooklyn, New York, she was fully breastfed, weaned onto a naturopathic diet, and raised as a third generation vegetarian. She grew up with an awareness of the wholeness of all things and the goodness within people. In college, she began studying nutrition, yoga, massage, midwifery, fertility awareness, and herbal medicine. Dr. Fromberg received a B.A. in Biology from Oberlin College in 1985, graduated from Southeastern University of the Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991, and completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995. She has worked collaboratively with midwives and birth centers in the Hudson Valley; Bali, Indonesia; and New York City, supporting culturally sensitive, gentle childbirth practices worldwide. She is an international women’s health consultant with midwife Robin Lim and Bumi Sehat Bali in Indonesia, and with Birth India. Dr. Fromberg was an assistant researcher for “Obat Asli Bali: The Synthesis of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Modern Medicine in Bali, Indonesia,” and she wrote the forward to “Eating Wisely: Recipes for Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women,” by Robin Lim, CPM.
Dr. Eden Fromberg was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in 2000, and was integral to establishing the original Birth Center at Long Island College Hospital. She is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine. In 2005, Dr. Fromberg joined SoHo OB/GYN where she focuses on holistic gynecology, integrative fertility, female endocrinology, and metabolism throughout the life cycle. With an emphasis on wellness and prevention, as well as being an open minded, dedicated partner in sorting out complex issues, Dr. Fromberg incorporates whole foods nutrition, detoxification, organic vitamins, phytonutrients, botanical remedies, anthroposophic medicine, yoga & exercise, fertility awareness, bioidentical hormones, osteopathic manual treatment, and other alternative approaches in her medical practice.
Dr. Eden Fromberg is also the cofounder and director of Womens Health & Fertility Yoga programs at Lila Yoga, Dharma & Wellness. Located in a beautiful, historic loft on the Bowery, Lila is a pioneering, grassroots yoga & dharma center offering innovative programs rooted in the ancient wisdom of Buddhism and yoga, made relevant to the world we live in to empower people here and now, including a renowned Prenatal Yoga program. Dr. Fromberg’s husband, Edizen Archer, a visual and martial artist, musician, and Buddhist practitioner, manages Lila and has taught meditation and internal martial arts at the center and at Tibet House.
